Computer #10 (Dell Optiplex 755 SFF; SFF = Small Form Factor)

One auction purchase that wasn't a laptop was a Dell Optiplex 755 SFF desktop computer, with an Intel™ Core 2 Quad Q6700/2.66GHz processor, 2GB memory, 500 GB hard drive, a Read/Write DVD Drive as drive D:, an ATI 2400 Graphics Card w/ VGA graphics, a Hi-Speed network (RJ-45 connector on back), eight (8) USB-2 ports (six (6) on back, two (2) on front), a Serial & Parallel port. This was all packed into a chassis measuring 12"x13"x4"; hence the "Small Form Factor" moniker (see photo at right of the actual machine, prepped for donation to a non-profit corporation somewhere in Maine). I installed Windows Home Server 2011 (aka Home Server 2008 r2) to make use of the Internet Information Services ("IIS") utility that allows one to host a web server on the system, as well as the robust media streaming services utility, so I could host an internal "Ballot Box" web site and host digital copies of our CDs for streaming on any computer or media-savvy device. I also installed Blue Iris Video Security & Webcam Management software to manage two Foscam FI9805E outdoor waterproof H.264 1280x960 PoE IP cameras, archive detected motion in the field of view, and record "noon snaps" for historical posterity. I added a USB docking station for "internal" SATA hard drives and used a 4TB "drive D" to store snapshots and video from the web cameras pointed at the front and back yards.

Now that it's been replaced by a more server-like machine, the 755 has been wiped clean and has a fresh new licensed copy of Windows 10 Pro installed, and the machine, monitor, keyboard and mouse was donated to a registered 501(c)3/4/7 (non-profit) organization in the area.
