- She was naturalized on June 15, 1942, certificate number 5552587. One of her witnesses was Mary K Cusick of 61 Forest Street, Roxbury, who was a neighbor. At the time Anna lived at 2 Forest Place in Roxbury. She was five foot six inches tall, fair skin and hazel eyes. She weighed 180 pounds.

Got sick on a trip to Atlanta. A checkup in Boston revealed cancer. She died within 5 months of getting sick.

- She was named after her grandmother Johanna CROWLEY. She was nicknamed Han in Ireland, and was called Anna in the US. She came out to her Aunt Kate CARROLL in Boston on August 16, 1925 when she was 23 years old. She very much wanted a new life in America, having spent about ten years out of school on the farm, working very hard to help her mother with the cooking, cleaning, and housework, as well as work around the farm. There was a night of dancing before she left for America. She went on the side car to Tralee to the train station to go to Queenstown (Cobh). Doll remembers seeing her off at the train station in Tralee. Doll remembers her mother running after the train, waving and crying. Her mother was heartbroken. Anna had on a navy outfit, with a hat and high shoes. Anna took the train to Cobh, where she took a ship to New York City, and then went on to Boston. The ship was the SS Carmania. It arrived in New York City on August 16, 1925. Anna then went up to Boston. The ship's records said that she did not have a ticket for her final destination, so she must have arranged that in New York. She lived with her Aunt Kate at 140 Summer Street in Newton Square. She worked in Newton Square as a domestic, and then met James NEVILLE at an Irish dance.
