Georgette KUHN also signed the wedding guest book for Lucien and Ellen, with a "Mrs. L. KUHN" signing right under Georgette. Mrs. L. KUHN could be Isabelle's sister. Book 2043; Page 201:
On 23 May 1891, John MATTSON sold lot #28 to Isabelle VOGT for $1
|
Note |
- From older typewritten set of family histories obtained from Dennis LITCHFIELD:
All members of the DUPUIS family were born in the Alsace-Lorraine region of France (not true, Isabelle was born in Paris)
Isabelle DUPUIS (born in 1852) [incorrect, born in 1851] was baptized at the Church de la Madeline (Paris), married at the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris. As a young girl she remembered carrying "black bread" to her favorite older brother, Eduard, who died fighting the Germans in the Franco-Prussian War (1871-2). She never outgrew her hatred for all Germans even after coming to America. She died at the age of 87 in Everett Mass on January 12, 1939.
She outlived her husband, Paul Albert Vogt. He had one sister, Mathilde. (her daughters were Marcella and Isabelle).
|
Note |
- Last name is listed in a variety of ways on a variety of documents: her own DC spells it DUPUIS, also son Lucien's MC #1, also daughter Matilda's MC, also son Lucien's MC #2, also son Marcel's MC.
Son Harry's MC #2 spells it DEPEW. Son Lucien's DC spells it DEPERE. Son Paul's MC spells it DEPUE. Son Harry's MC #1 (Everett) spells it DEPEII. Son Harry's MC #1 (Malden) spells it DUFREZ. Son Marcel's DC spells it DUPRES. Daughter Isabelle's MC spells it DUPIS.
|
Note |
- DC Lists time in country as 56 years, and time in Everett as 50 years, which means she came to USA in or around 1883, and came to Everett in or around 1889 - these dates are suspect when compared to dates and locations of childrens' births. 1900 and 1920 census sheets list immigration date as 1875 and naturalization date as 1892.
|
Note |
- Isabelle's mother possibly passed away at an early age, and her father remarried. Isabelle was sent away to grow up in a convent
|
Note |
- Niece of Isabelle, Georgette KUHN, never married, was a dressmaker for the wealthy of the area and for fancy stores like Jordan Marsh, was in demand because of her skills and because of her French accent
|
Note |
- 1851: Reference her christening: "...The godfather was Jean Eugene Dupuis, the brother of the infant..."
