- She lived in Omaha. She came to Boston to Fr. Jackie CARROLL's ordination. Anna NEVILLE went to school with her. She was the younger child. Her sister Nellie arranged for her to come to the US to visit. But she never did return to Ireland. She often felt bad that she didn't have the chance to say a personal goodbye to her mother Johanna. Her trip to the US was a rather frightening experience for a young girl. The conditions on the boat were not the best, and she had no one to turn to. When she arrived at Ellis Island they would not let her move on to Omaha where her sponsors were as she did not have the required amount of money. They held her there for a few days until it was straightened out. She never forgot the experience and talked of it to her children.
