Former Pawtucket Man 96, Looks Forward to 97
Visitors, gifts and cards in the mail and a party with fellow patients at the Mansion Nursing Home Wednesday marked the 96th birthday of Albert Munroe.
Mr. Munroe, who formerly lived at 12 Flint St., Pawtucket, was in the jewelry business in Malden, Mass., for many years. He was also active in amateur racing and participated in horse racing in the Rhode Island and Massachusetts area.
Mr. Munroe, a patient at the Home for nearly four years, was honored at a party attended by more than 20 other patients and staff members. An entertainment program of singing and recitations by nurses' aides and patients was followed by group singing. Arrangements were made by Andrew Chopoorian, home administrator, and Miss Joan Wittingham, nursing supervisor.
Mr. Munroe has a son in Pawtucket, George Munroe of 36 Cole St., another son in Florida and a daughter in New Hampshire. Although his busy day left him rather tired, he's already looking forward to his 97th party, Miss Whittingham said.
