- PERRY - Of Salem, Dec. 20, Dr. Raymond J. Perry, 87, Retired Capt. US Coast Guard WWII, founder of the Computer Science Dept. at Salem State College, Late Graduate Malden High School, Boston College and Harvard University, Retired faculty member of the US Coast Guard Academy, Recipient of the Military Award, The Legion of Merit for his contribution to the Sciences. Surviving him is his wife, Mary (Cusack) Kraft-Perry, a retired Psychology Prof. at Salem State College; 3 children, Robert J. Perry MD of France, Paula M. Zeppieri of Groton CT, Mary-Jeanne Perry of Olympia WA, foster brother, Charles O'Rourke of East Bridgewater, a member of the college football Hall of Fame and 6 grandchildren. He was also the husband of the late Evelyn (Forde) Perry and father of the late William R. Perry. Funeral from the David H. Gonet Funeral Home, 22 Hawthorne Blvd, SALEM (near Salem Common, Route 1A) on Wednesday at 10 AM. Followed by a funeral mass in St. John the Evangelist Church, Humphrey St., Swampscott at 11 AM. Visiting hours in the funeral home Tuesday from 4-8 PM. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem. If desired contributions can be made in his memory to the charity of one's choice. Parking available in the church parking lot, across the street from the funeral home.
