Marriage Certificate for Henri Joseph VOGT, 39 years old, born in Mainz, in the department/region of Mont-Tonnere on the 28th of January, 1762 old-style, Justice of the Peace in the township of Kaiserslautern, living in the township of Kaiserslautern, son of the late Jean Nicolas VOGT and DE GUILLEMETTE known as VOGT, his wife, also living in Mainz.
And for Marie Catherine RETTIG, 22 years old, born in the township of Kaiserslautern on the 30 of June, 1778 old-style, living in the township of Kaiserslautern, oldest daughter of Conrad RETTIG and of Catherine LAY, his spouse, both having passed away.
The preliminary proceedings are extracts of the publication register of marriages made in Kaiserslautern [continued? - next page - continued?] the 20th of the present month and posted under the terms of the law. The Birth Certificates for Henri Joseph VOGT and for Marie Catherine RETTIG are in a complete form, and all have been read out loud by me, a public official, under the terms of the law.
The aforementioned couple present here declare to take in marriage, one is Henri Joseph VOGT, the other is Marie Catherine RETTIG.
In the presence of Charles William RETTIG, lawyer, 53 years old,
of Francis Laurence ROEBEL, Notary Public, 50 years old,
of Francis KARIHER, merchant, 41 years old,
and of William KOCH, Public Health Officer, 30 years old.
The first is an uncle, the second a brother-in-law, the third is related, and the fourth is a first cousin of Marie Catherine RETTIG, all four reside in Kaiserslautern.
Then I, William FLIESEN, first assistant to the Mayor of Kaiserslautern, acting in the function of a Town Registrar, pronounce in the name of the law that this couple is united in marriage, and upon this the couple and witnesses have signed with me.
