On a visit to the Massachusetts State Archives (State Archives, 220 Morrissey Boulevard, Boston, MA 02125, [617] 727-2816) on 8 August 1997, Eugene F. VOGT obtained a copy from the Marriage Register book for the city of Boston for the year 1862, listing the marriage of William H. MUNROE to Rebecca MITCHELL on 8 October 1862 in Boston MA. William is listed as a resident of Boston, age 22, occupation Upholsterer, born in Boston to Henry Jr. and Sarah MUNROE. Rebecca is listed as a resident of Hull, age 19, occupation (none), born in Hull to John and Susan MITCHELL. It was the first marriage for both. C. F. Barnard of Boston officiated.
