Hi Gene,
I am glad I was able to make contact with you. I was amazed to stumble accross your web site. I just googled Mary Parker McGrath and your web site popped up. The pictures were fantastic I could see Pats Carroll in the picture of your Grandfather.
My father was born on the 8th of May 1947 died on the 9th of October 2007. I have a sister Rosemary, and a brother Tom. I am married with five children, Cillian, Grace, Lillie, Jean,
Paddy. My husband is called Shane Foley and we live in Killarney. My mothers maiden name is Lyne.
Sr Cecilia talks about you often and showed me the information you had gathered but I did not know it was online. You have done tremendous work and a service to the entire family so Thank you. She has helped me gather information on my family tree from the other sides also (Kirbys &
O'Connors, & Lawlors).
When I was looking through your web site I noticed you had some questions about Patrick Carroll and Hannah McGrath and I thought I might have the answer and be able to help. I
received a print out on the Carrolls and I am going to try and scan it and attach it to send it to you, I have only had the computer a short time and I am just learning as I go along. So let me know if you recieve it. Anyhow there was I believe a double marriage in the Carrolls and McGraths as my great-great Grandmother Johanna Mary Carroll married Michael John McGrath she was known as Hannah McGrath. And her brother Patrick married Johanna McGrath Michael John sister. If you get a chance email on those questions and I will ask a few relations here.
I was fancinated to learn that Mary Parker was born in England. Do you have anymore information on the Parkers. I would love to see if here birth appeared in the English Census
records as the UK census go back further than the Irish ones. My fathers sister Angela remembers as a child being told that two of here Great grandmothers were born in England.
Travel was so rare in those days I would love to find out more.
For the last few years particularly since my fathers death I have collected as much family history as I can I hope to put it together for my children as If I don't it will be lost for them. And I feel very proud of all of my relations.
I will send on the attachment of scanned documents tommorrow as I will have to ask my sister how to do it as I have been trying for a good while.
I would love to talk again.
All the best from your not so computer literate cousin.
Rachel
