WOBURN - Helen M. Scire, 74, a lifelong Woburn resident, died at Winchester Hospital, surrounded by her family, on Friday, Nov. 2, following a lengthly illness. She was the beloved wife of William M. Scire for more than 53 years.
Born and raised in Woburn, she was one of ten children of the late Wilfred and Irene (Kehoe) LaCasse. She graduated from Woburn High School with the class of 1955.
Helen worked for many years as a medical secretary in several local doctors's offices. In earlier years, she was active in the American Legion Auxiliary in Woburn. Helen enjoyed arts and crafts and working on puzzles in her leisure time.
She and her husband Bill enjoyed camping at York Beach, Maine, every summer. A loving "Nana" to her grandchildren, she loved spending time with each of them and was so proud of all their achievements.
Preceding her in death were two sisters, Doris Keene and Irene Crouch, and six brothers, Kenneth, James, Donald, Lawrence, William, and Paul LaCasse.
Surviving, along with her husband Bill, are two daughters, Michelle E. Scire of Woburn and Marcia I. Robinson and her husband John of Haverhill, three grandchildren Shannon, William and Stephany Robinson, and a sister, Gerry Corwin of Mesa Ariz.
The funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main St., Woburn, on Tuesday, Nov. 6, at 9:15 a.m., followed by a funeral mass at St. Barbara's Church, 138 Cambridge Road, Woburn, at 10. Internment will be private.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Monday from 4-8 p.m.
