London

We travelled to London and other parts of England a number of times, especially me, and especially on business. These paragraphs describe some of the non-business trips.

March 1993

Lynn's mom came for her second visit, for three weeks in March. We did a lot of travelling in the area around Stuttgart while she was here, but the highlight of her visit was a five day visit to England! Lynn, Gene, Audrey, and mom flew in to London on a Friday night, and stayed through until the next Tuesday (Megan was on a school field trip to Rome). The first day was spent on an all-day bus tour of London. We saw all the sights and really got a good feel for the city. We were staying in a great hotel across from Hyde Park and Marble Arch, so we were central to lots of the main attractions. We spent one overnight in the Cambridge area north of London, visiting some friends who used to work with Gene in Stuttgart but moved to England last year, and we also got to see the Andrew Lloyd-Webber musical Cats in the original theater (the New London Theatre in the West End) when we returned to London the next day! It was great!

October 1994

Also in October I spent a week in London on business. While I was there I got tickets to see Sunset Blvd., one of the big Broadway-style musicals that was running in London at the time.

April 1995

At the end of April, Megan travelled to England with her school Show Choir, and Lynn volunteered as a chaperone! They performed in Covent Garden and three or four other places, got to see two shows each (Megan saw Starlight Express, Lynn saw Crazy for You, and they both saw Les Miserables), and generally had a rousing good time.
